The institute is located in the middle of the old town island of Lübeck at Königstraße 42, opposite the confluence of Hundestraße. It is best reached by public transport.
By car
You can reach Lübeck by car via the A1. Take the exit 22-Lübeck-Zentrum in the direction of the Nordlankai ferry. Follow Stockelsdorferstraße to the traffic circle and take the 3rd exit. Then take Einsiedelstraße and Hafenstraße to Kanalstraße. There you will find parking spaces, which will take you to the institute in 5 minutes on foot via Glockengießerstraße or Hundestraße.
By bus
From the central bus station (ZOB), which is located right next to the main train station, lines 10, 11, 21, 32 and 39 lead to the Katharineum stop (about 50 meters away from the institute).
From the university campus, you can reach the institute with lines 1, 4, 6 and 9. Line 4 stops at Katharineum and lines 1, 6 and 9 stop at Königsstraße (about 300 meters away from the institute).
By train
You can get to the main station by train. From there, the bus lines mentioned above will take you to the institute. Travelers with light luggage who want to take a look at Lübeck on the way can also reach the institute in 25 minutes on foot. From the train station, walk straight past the Holstentor, then turn left along Untertrave, turn right into Mengstraße and follow the extension to Königstraße.
By plane
From Hamburg Airport, take the S-Bahn line S1 to Hamburg Central Station. From there it is a 45-minute train ride to Lübeck's main station.
