Reports on the History of Science and Humanities

„Berichte zur Wissenschaftsgeschichte“ was the organ of the Gesellschaft für Wissenschaftsgeschichte (GWG) from 1978 to 2018. Berichte zur Wissenschaftsgeschichte / History of Science and Humanities is still one of the leading journals in the history of science. The journal is open to all fields and branches of history of science and humanities, with a special focus on interdisciplinary topics and papers bridging from history of science to philosophy, art history, and media studies.

In 2007, shortly after his move from Montreal to Lübeck, Cornelius Borck was elected editor-in-chief of the Berichte zur Wissenschaftsgeschichte by the Society, succeeding the founding editor Fritz Krafft after 30 years. With Burghard Weiss as editor, the Lübeck Institute was in charge of the journal for eleven years until 2018. As the last issue under their responsibility, a collection of short position papers "On the Future of the History of Science" was published open access on the occasion of the merger of the Gesellschaft für Wissenschaftsgeschichte with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Geschichte der Medizin, Naturwissenschaften und Technik (DGMNT) to form the new Gesellschaft für Geschichte der Wissenschaften, der Medizin und der Technik (GWMT). The editorial for this issue can be found here.

In 2019, Kärin Nickelsen became editor-in-chief of Berichte zur Wissenschaftsgeschichte / History of Science and Humanities.
